Have you met Pamela Quinzi yet? During Fall 2013 Fashion Week I had the pleasure of attending fashion designer, Pamela Quinziโs Kilami Collection Show. I was thrilled, being such a shoe fanatic, as you know! I planned everything just perfectly to be there on time and not miss a single minute of it. My husband and I sat on the rooftop of the Empire Hotel, sipping cocktails and snacking on Hors d’oeuvres. There was a pretty good crowd there and we wondered where they could possibly have a runway in that space. The sun began to fall behind the tall buildings and looked quite beautiful. We sipped and snacked some more while we enjoyed watching the sun set over NYC. It started to get dark and chilly and my hubby started to question if we were in the right place. That caused a lot of anxiety for me so I adamantly denied that we could possibly be in the wrong place! Hmmph!
Well, it got later and darker and chillier. We decided to go in quick to use the restroom and get back outside promptly as not to miss any part of the show. Naturally my hubby was out of the bathroom quicker than I. When I came out it was crowded and DJ Chopps was filling the rooftop with sound! My hubby started dragging me to the other side of the rooftop with me greatly resisting. Well, who the hell knew there was another side to this lovely rooftop venue, not me, not at all! As we got closer we could see cameras flashing all over the place. I had trouble hearing him and def couldn’t see anything, (Iโm ๐ short) as the crowd began to disperse we could see Pamela and all of the beautifully clad models striking their final poses. We had apparently crashed someone else’s party on the other side of the roof and missed Pamela’s show! Well, as you can imagine I was devastated! And felt so damn stupid! Akin to the disappointment Sally and Linus experienced after waiting for the great pumpkin! As you can imagine I cried and then laughed, eventually. But this is not where my story ends, it is just the beginning! The next morning a message popped up on FB and yes, it was Pamela Quinzi on the other side! She invited me to view her beautiful line in her studio!
Pamela told me that she always knew that she was born to be a fashion designer. She designs from her fantasies, music, nature, movies, colors, and textures. In other words she designs from her heart! Her work is so detailed and beautifully put together that you instantly want the entire collection! Inventing new creations is her passion, her life. She lives and breathes Kilame She is always on, 24/7! When and wherever she gets inspired she soaks it in and puts it out in magical designs. She is a master at designing very detailed embroidery. She uses it on shoes, booties, sneakers, dresses and even headbands! All of her work is original and one of a kind. Each piece of footwear is original, they don’t match but rather compliment each other. This concept won me over for life! As Stacy London would say, it doesn’t have to match it just has to go!
When asked who she would love to style she said Lady Gaga Well, of course, who else! (You hear that Gaga! Give Pamela Quinzi a jingle!)
I was so impressed with everything about her. I found out more about Pamela and that she designed more than shoes. There was an intimate bunch of us there, trying on all of the shoes, booties, dresses and accessories! (and sipping Italian wine!) She is a great talent and a happy go lucky person. Once you meet her you believe that she is truly the Cinderella of New York!
