Rihanna’s Bridesmaid Gown!

At one point in our life or another we have had to wear the dreaded bridesmaid’s dress.  I still get fashionista shivers when I think of some of them! I can’t get past the look and feel of that tacky melon colored dress I had to wear and have my picture taken in! Take a look at how Rihanna did it!

“Single is an unapologetic stand for the individuality of style and confidence. Co-founded by GALINA SOBOLEV and MICHAEL SOBOLEV, Single was conceived to reaffirm every woman’s zest for life, romance and luxury.”

Fashion and style run deep in Galina’s blood. As a child in her native Russia, Galina learned how to sew and crochet from her grandmother, a well respected dressmaker who had her own atelier, just steps away from the Opera House, in a glitzy neighborhood in Odessa. Even today, Galina cites this as a profound influence in her life, recalling the supple garments and colorful fabrics she used to play with. In 1977 her family moved to New York. A few years later Galina enrolled at the Fashion Institute of Technology. She participated in the school’s exchange program which enabled her to spend a year and a half in England to study knitwear. Upon her return to the U.S., she earned two awards from FIT for her graduating collection. During this time, she also got into modeling, walking the New York runways alongside Pat Cleveland and Iman for such designers as Michael Kors and Michael Vollbracht. This phase in her life was equally inspirational as she experienced the glamour of club life at New York¹s hotspots such as Studio 54, Xenon, Limelight and Danceteria. Following her modeling stint Galina returned to design and worked for a manufacturer who produced exclusive knitwear for Marc Jacobs and others.Galina moved to Los Angeles in 1987 where she continued to work in fashion, designing for several well known fashion lines. But it was her meeting with her future husband Michael Sobolev, in what she describes as a fairytale-like situation on Christmas Eve of 1992 that truly changed her life. The couple proved to be such a great match that they extended their personal relationship to include a professional one. Michael’s entrepreneurial skills and MBA degree together with Galina’s talent made a perfect formula for starting a company of their own. They started in 1994, with Michael taking the business end while Galina focused on the creative aspect of designing gorgeous printed silk chiffon dresses. Two years into the venture, major stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Fred Segal picked up the line, and, based on their overwhelming reactions to her designs, Galina and Michael decided to streamline the collection into a label they named Single.Single offers the very latest in fashion trends with a fresh and unique interpretation. Combining classic luxury with an exuberant attitude, Single is fabulous fun in lavish fabrics, from delicate silks to the softest cashmeres. Its one-of-a-kind prints are developed from original artwork, in coordination with art studios in Italy and France. When you wear Single, you possess an optimistic outlook and a strong sense of self.”

SPRING CLEANING – TODAY! REALLY?

spring 2015, spring cleaning, closet cleaning, new wardrobeI just woke up, well actually Nymeria made it impossible to sleep again. This dog just loves me too much! If I am not awake and touching here she is not happy! But once the coffee was brewing and I opened the door to let the dogs out, I had a major happy surprise. IT IS SPRING! I will make it a good day today, I will drive out to the wineries and just enjoy the east end. Then I opened my email and saw this article by Kareen Mallet (below). And then read it. And then realized the advice in it is too real to skip by. Fast forward, new plan in place…I am going to make room in my closet to buy new things. While I still have this attitude it is time to purge. So here goes, spring cleaning – clean out the closet, go out SHOPPING! Or better yet, clean out the closet and sit on my deck with a vodka tonic with a twist of lime and shop online basking in the warmth of this glorious spring day!

I thought you should do the same! So here is a present, a gift card for you to use to refill your closet with the best of spring!

“This weekend, a nice breeze pouring through my windows, I spent about three hours cleaning out my closets in the time-honored tradition known as Spring Cleaning. Yes, friends, I Spring Cleaned the shit out of my apartment. This was a no-stone-left-unturned kind of cleanout, where I was forced to come face-to-face with vintage blazers from the ‘90s I haven’t worn since the early aughts and shamefully tight jeans that never really fit to begin with. All in all, for garbage bags of clothes got donated to the local Salvation Army. And, damn, it felt good.
Spring cleaning offers a seasonal purging of that which you no longer wear. In theory, these are pieces you haven’t worn the whole last year (evidence of their irrelevancy, surely). In my personal practice, these are usually items I’ve held onto for about a decade.
Each old, unworn piece in my closet serves as a monument to my past–an homage to a time period that has long past. Yeah, I’m sort of holding onto my flared jeans from 2001 because I think they’ll eventually come back one day, but I’m also holding onto said jeans because they remind me of being in my twenties, being sort of broke, going out too much, and not really knowing how to dress myself. I’ll likely never wear them again, but I keep all these things so I can drag them out of a box once every ten years and say, “Hey! I was a hot young babe once with a tiny, tiny ass!” It’s like holding onto perfume bottles from the awful crap I used to wear in the 2nd grade just to maintain a connection to my youth.
The problem is, maintaining a connection to your youth takes up valuable space, something most people in New York City don’t have. And, in the instance of thinking you’ll wear something again years down the line, you’re not taking into account the idea of growth, literally and figuratively. Five years from now, I hope I look at the trendy pieces today as things my taste and finances have moved beyond. Spring cleaning leaves space for the new you to change and evolve. And leaves more room in your closet for something like this Lace Madelyn crop top from Karen Zambos.”

Vita Sciences Maxasorb B12 Cream

vita sciences, hand cream, vitamin b12

Vita sciences graciously sent me a sample to try. When it first arrived I thought it looked somewhat “medical” and not so much packaged as other similar products. My first surprise is when I pumped it out and it was pink! For a few seconds I thought it may be sticky but it absorbed very quickly and completely.

After a few days of using it once or twice a day on my hands I noticed something unexpected. My fingernails caught my attention because they suddenly looked shiny and not cracked and dry. That was my second surprise! I have had a problem with brittle nails for a few years now, so much so that I don’t even wear polish anymore. But Maxasorb has taken care of that problem now!

I have this odd problem, maybe it is not just me? when I wear tall boots and tights all day long I find that for the next day my legs itch out of control and nothing helps at all, I decided to try the Maxasorb before and after wearing boots and it definitely made a difference. Sure, my legs wanted a little rubbing and scratching but not chronically!! The second day I had no itching.

So I am a happy camper, Thank your for this opportunity. You can add one more customer to your list!!
See more here.
