Rise Of The Jack-O-Lanterns 🎃

For Halloween 🎃 this year we decided to check out something new, The Rise of the Jack-O-Lanterns! We will now be going every year, it was awesome! They had displays that were about 20 feet long, really!, and all made from pumpkins. There were displays of the artists and actors that we lost this year, they honored our military too. They had Disney characters, Game of Thrones, dinosaurs, spiders, scorpions, lions, Jack and Sally from The Nightmare Before Christmas and more! Here are some of our pictures. The carved pumpkins were out of this world amazing! I had never seen anything like it! Check it out!

The RISE is the only event in the country which carves 5,000 fresh REAL pumpkins EACH WEEKEND! For you jack o’lantern mathletes out there, that’s a total of 20,000 jack o’lanterns carved from fresh real pumpkins over the course of 4 weekends! Each one weighs about 20 pounds so that’s about 400,000 pounds of pumpkins (200 tons) we’ll go through during the month! It takes about 75 people, over a two-day period each week, to carve and place all 5,000 and then remove them all on Monday morning! Yes, we do have a few hundred carveable artificial pumpkins in our display, because some of our carvers prefer them, but those are in addition to the 5,000 jack o’lanterns carved from fresh real pumpkins each week!

3D Sculpted Pumpkins!

We’re bringing in one of the top pumpkin sculptors in the country to carve a dozen of the most draw-dropping externally carved pumpkin sculptures you’ll ever see! You’ll find them along the trail submerged in a super-secret-preservation-solution so they’ll be preserved for the entire month of October!

Halloween Costumes That Are Effortless!

I know, some people dread dressing up for Halloween and don’t think it is fun at all. Naturally that is not me! I love it! It is a day to express yourself however you want and get away with it! But if you dread the shopping and racking your brain for ideas, here are a few super simple ones for you to copy! Most of the stuff you can find right in your own closet! Sara, Danielle and I spent around $10 on these looks! We just needed to add a few accessories to our existing wardrobe and we were done, quite fabulously too, if I may say so myself!

Sara and I added a hat and Danielle added a mask. At that point I was done, LOL! Sara also picked up a mini broom stick to match her leggings that she had in her closet! Danielle simply pulled up her hood and was transformed into Little Red Riding Hood!She added a cute bucket to hold her candy and lipstick too LOL!

So don’t fear Halloween, it’s really not too tricky! Just add a witches hat, a simple mask and a bucket and you are good to go! Have fun with it! xoxoxo #rockinrobin

New York Botanical Gardens Outing!

I was born and raised in New York and still live here so naturally I have NOT done a lot of sight seeing! I finally made the time to go to the New York Botanical Gardens in the Bronx. Being across the street from the Bronx Zoo, I can tell you the zoo always won out! Have barely missed a year going there since birth, and that is a LONG time LOL! But, I am so glad I finally went to the #NYBG, it was super awesome and I want to go back!

They had an exhibit of Artworks by world-renowned artist *Dale Chihuly that was just amazing to see. They also had a really fun Halloween Children’s Garden, naturally, my favorite part – LOL. The nature walks were really pretty this time of year and the path to the waterfall was a good hike. (See all of these pictures below)

So, as far as the plants go, although Autumn may not be the optimal time to see the gardens in bloom, it was still fun and I plan on going back in May!

And of course the Chihuly Exhibit was just amazing… I can’t believe what he can do with glass!

The children’s area was exceptionally fun because they had a Halloween exhibit!

Just about everything on my person today is from @shoedazzle!! This super cute dress is called the “drop waist chiffon dress” and comes in solids too. The over the knee boots are called “Jenea” I love them, I have them in two colors! These are the navy faux suede ones and I also own them in oxblood. The tote is my favorite of the moment, isn’t it so freakin cute!!! It is called “Omer”. Lastly is the hat, called “Wool Hat”.
